Big Update: Disney employee issues dire warning about the economic consequences

Jose Castillo, a current Walt Disney Firm employee and Republican candidate for Congress in Florida, told Fox News Digital that Disney's new political activism could cost the company money.

In response to Disney's recent advocacy against the parental rights law H.B. 1557, dubbed the "Don't Say Gay" law by critics, Florida legislators have floated the idea of repealing the 1967 Reedy Creek Improvement Act, which gives Disney the autonomy to effectively run its own government in the area around Disney World. If the statute is repealed, Disney World will be governed by the Orange County government.

Castillo cautioned that if Disney's anti-law campaigning results in the law's repeal, the company's bottom line will suffer, especially if the company's left-wing support continues.
"I believe that if Disney continues on its leftward trajectory and the legislature passes the left-leaning policies that they've requested, they'll be subject to the totalitarian authority of the mayor of Orange County, which they will soon regret," Castillo told Fox News Digital. "If Disney is subject to Orange County rules and taxes, I believe they will reconsider pressing for more."

Castillo would not say whether he favours the Reedy Creek Improvement Act, but he did state that as a resident of the area, he is aware of it "He opposes "the government granting special privileges to certain corporations and individuals as a free market capitalist." It is not the role of the government to determine winners and losers."

"It's also possibly because of these benefits, as well as Disney's substantial clout in Florida, that they feel compelled to weigh in on topics like the Parental Rights in Education Bill," he added.
"It irritates me when I see public remarks like 'we' believe the bill should not have been approved," the employee continued. "I've worked for Disney for 13 years and am proud of my position. When the company says "we," it should mean all of the Cast Members, but that isn't the case right now."

‘SILENT MAJORITY’ OF DISNEY EMPLOYEES SUPPORT FLORIDA LAW, DISNEY EMPLOYEE RUNNING FOR CONGRESS SAYS

Even while the corporation has taken a public stance against it after LGBTQ employees objected, Castillo previously told Fox News Digital that a "silent majority" of Disney employees support the law.

Despite the fact that it has been dubbed the "Don't Say Gay" law, H.B. 1557 does not prohibit the use of the word "gay" in schools. It also does not prohibit casual discussions in the classroom about sexual orientation and gender identity. It does not mandate that schools notify parents if their child is gay or transgender.
"Because of the company's extremely public opposition to the Parental Rights in Education bill, conservative Disney cast members are reluctant to speak out," he claimed. "I believe Disney made a severe error since the vociferous minority does not speak for the majority of cast members or the majority of Florida parents who do not want their young children to be taught about sexuality by public school teachers."

Castillo told Fox News Digital that he believes in the Walt Disney Company's goal, "but I believe the company's current trajectory—vowing to abolish this law—is losing the spirit and the ideals upon which Disney was built."
